A day at the museum...

This morning Libi and I braved three different freeways to head down to the LA Museum of Natural history.

We were supposed to be joined by some MOPS friends, but we were stood up. It's probably better that we were alone since Libi was experiencing the beginning of an allergy attack.

We decided to spend a few hours exploring all the museum has to offer. Our first stop was the Pavilion of Wings.

Libi was so excited to see all of these critters up close-- she has been studying bugs in school for the past two weeks.

Libi even wore her floral dress to attract butterflies, but none landed on either of us.

I won't bore you with all of my butterfly photos-- I'll just make a collage of all of the best ones :)

Now it is off to the main museum!

There are some dinosaurs in the lobby, but Libs wouldn't stand next to them...

so we did it together!

They are doing a major renovation on the museum, so there wasn't a lot to see. One of the first exhibits we saw was one on California history. Libi was very excited to see the Native American huts ("They look like Big Bad Wolf houses"), the explorers ships ("From Peter Pan!"), and all of the farm equipment ("I want to be a firefighter when I'm big!") I think it's funny that so many of her comments were Disney related-- that's my girl!!!

Next it was off to see more bugs.

I'm not a fan of the creepy crawly, but for the sake of Libi's preschool education and her recent interest in bugs we looked at EVERY single terrarium!

Libi found the Nemo fish right away...

and a "Daddy and baby turtle!" She also informed me that she was going to do this to Daddy when he gets home.

At noon there was a special Dino Experience show-- we couldn't miss that. Libi was a bit apprehensive at first, but when we talked about other dinosaurs we knew (Rex from Toy Story) and how nice they were she got very brave.

There were a bunch of very noisy school groups around us...

but our very well behaved daughter sat with her hands crossed in her lap. I was so very proud!

The T-Rex came out and he was really cool!

They do a little show and he walks around and grunts at all the kids.

It was a fun day, but Libi was getting quite drippy so we headed home for a nap.

A day with Tobee...

Lately Miss Tobee hasn't gotten a great deal of our attention. She has also been acting out when we leave the house-- eating food off the counter, shredding tooth brushes, and tearing up whatever she can find.

Today she and I spent the entire morning together while Libi was in school-- it was nice for both of us. As a special treat I even took her to SCLP to grab Libi. She had to sit in the car when I went in, but she was on her best behavior!

It's so funny now when I go on campus-- all of the kids know me by name and they smile for my camera because they think they are going to be in a movie.

The weather was gorgeous, but cold!

Outside time was at a minimum because of the biting cold wind.

Libi has been working on her throwing, catching and kicking lately. She's becoming quite the athlete.

Libi was so happy to have a special visitor waiting in the car for her.

On the way home Libi was in rare form!

She kept saying the same thing over and over...

and then cracking herself up! I wish I knew what was so funny!

Tonight we had dinner with our dear friend Russ Peak. He is in town to do a show in Castaic and asked to stay with us tonight. Libi loves her Uncle Russ-- especially when he brings princess jewelry with him!

Sorry....

So sorry for the long absence-- my computer completely crashed at MOPS and I've been without her all week.

It's amazing how much of my life is on this machine: MOPS documents, Pioneer Club curriculum, not to mention the thousands of pictures I've taken in the past few months. As I faced the possibility that my laptop might have been dead I mourned all of these things and wondered why I didn't back up more often.

Happily my computer and I have been reunited and all is well! Now I need to catch up on the days that I've missed. Hopefully by the end of the weekend we will all be back in the swing of things. Thanks for your patience :)

Fun around town...

This morning I caught our state bird hanging out in our backyard.

Nana and Pop canceled on our visit today since there was a doctor's appointment. Nana hasn't been feeling well lately so we hope that the doctor can help her out. When I told Libi that we weren't going to see them she said, "I want to kiss Nana and make her better." My sweet love!

The clouds are supposed to roll in today and the view from the yard confirms that.

We had a slow start to our morning: breakfast, playing with dolls, and catching up with Playhouse Disney.

Ron got Libi a mini Etch-a-Sketch for our trip back east.

Libs has been spending lots of time drawing on it.

Today she made a perfect square on it!

I tried to get a picture of it, but that glare didn't let me. At least her little face is cute.

We went to Rio Norte for a quick visit with Daddy in between testing.

Libi found some packing peanuts to play with.

They made a horrible sound, but they filled our time there.

Tonight was one of our final Skipper Clubs-- only two more to go. At this point in the year I'm always ready to have my Wednesday nights back, no matter how much I love my kids!

They moved the Skippers to the front of the room so they could see all the sign language-- finally!

When she's in front on the stage she is a very focused performer!!!

Her sign language is improving every week!

Tonight we had milk and cookies for snack-- it was a good night at PC.

A short post...

Today my computer crashed. Totally, completely crashed. Blue screen. Lots of awful beeping. No slide show for MOPS.

As a result my mind has been on other things, so my camera sat pretty still today.

I did manage a few shots of Libs at school. Proudly wearing her butterfly shirt for bug week.

The afternoon was beautiful so we had the doors open. Too bad that the rest of the week is supposed to be cold!
