Hot, hot, hot!!!

Today was a sad day. Not only was it the funeral for Howard's mother (which was beautiful!) but....

our air conditioner died!!!! We had a repair man over in the morning and he got it working but by the time Libi and I made it back from the reception for the Strassner's it was completely dead.

By the time Ron got home it was 90 degrees downstairs and a volcano upstairs. My head was aching and I was on my last nerve due to this blasted cold still hanging on, so my hubby took pity on me and took me to Claim Jumper for dinner.

We actually went to ChiChi's first but their air conditioning wasn't working and I couldn't take being hot for one more second!

Libs was in charge of the beeper while we waited. Doesn't she look cute in her little black dress? It was perfect for the reception, but cute enough to still make her look like a little girl.

Today Libi amazed us again...

she is really trying to color within the lines. I know that I'm just a proud Mama, but I think it's pretty remarkable!!

Trying to keep cool....

Summer is finally here in the good old SCV. Temperatures have been over 100 all week!

I've been dressing Libi in super cool outfits for school.

Again today it was too warm to play outside so they let us come inside during story-time (which is super against the normal rules!)

They are learning about safety this week..

the first lesson (and the most important) was about washing your hands. Libi loves the song that they teach for the duration of rubbing and scrubbing your hands. Again, if you ask her I bet she will sing it for you :)

Mommy is still convalescing from her cold so Daddy had to be Libi's playmate this evening.

These two are so silly together!

Again Libs entertained herself while Ron worked and I was slowly dripping and coughing away.

She has recently gotten back into her large dolls-- taking care of them like they were her own children.

Another day with friends...

This morning Libi was forced to play on her own while I was down with my cold.

She is so good at playing on her own-- I love that about her!

She did do her part to help make me feel better by dancing for me...

decorating the furniture....

and taking my picture. Yes there is photographic evidence of my dying with a cold, but I love you all too much to post the photo here :)

Libs also created her own form of hopscotch today jumping from princess to princess.

We got the sad call this morning that Howard's mother had passed so we volunteered to go grab the kids from Mint again.

Today Libs got to go with me! She loved waving to all of the kids as they walked by.

She is super fond of Ben. She spent the entire time we were waiting for Emma trying to hold Ben's hand or putting her head on his shoulder. Poor Ben was super uncomfortable by this, but he was kind enough not to slug her.

We loaded into the car to escape the heat and headed back to the house.

After Emma finished her homework we all settled down to watch Lilo and Stitch-- gotta love Ohana!!!

We love the Strassner's and are so sorry for their loss.

Happy Birthday Grampy...

Today Libs was kind enough to share her cold with me! I got progressively worse as the day went on, but there is no rest for the hostess!

In the morning we said a ticklish farewell to Jammy and Granpa.

Then Libs played while we straightened and prepared for Grampy's party.

Libs warmly welcomed Grampy to his party...

while Daddy explained how dinner was going to work.

One of Grampy's favorite foods is pizza so I got the brave idea to make grilled pizza to order for each family member. I braved by fear of yeast and made the dough from scratch, prepared toppings, and even made herb oil to brush on the BBQ. Every person put their toppings in a bowl and took them out to our Grill-Master Ron. In just a few moments we had the most amazing pizza!!!

Everyone seemed to enjoy this new adventure!

After dinner Daddy and Libi showed off their light saber skills.

Grampy got some really fun gifts...

including his own light saber which Libs picked out especially for him!

Aunt Andrea and Aunt Violet made the most amazing birthday cake with Krusty the Clown on the top!!

Libs helped to blow out the candles and then while Mommy and Daddy were getting plates and ice cream.....

this happened. Aunt Andrea took this picture before I re-entered the room and made the "fun" stop!! I'm the Mommy and that's my job!

Another slow day...

One of the many things I love about having my folks visit is that they bring us some yummy berries or peaches or potatoes-- any produce from Stockton is amazing!

While Ron and my folks were running around town today Libs and I were at home.

She is still slightly under the weather with a super runny nose.

Mom and I did take her out for a super quick trip to the mall to get a few more Back to School items.

We made a stop at the Disney Store and Libs was so excited to see Phineas and Ferb in the window!

She was even more excited when Jammy bought her a Phineas and Candace play set!

No matter how bad we feel-- there is always room for dessert! That's my girl :)

The sniffles and a surprise...

Libs and I spent the day at home due to her very runny nose.

We used lots of Kleenex, did tons of cuddling, and read lots of books.

In the evening Libs was surprised by a visit from Jammy and Granpa!!! We met up with them at Chili's for a late dinner and I spoiled Libs with a slushie. I figured that since she had been pretty miserable all day she deserved a sugary treat that I wouldn't normally let her have.

Daddy joined us after the Back to School Dance and Libs was thrilled to have the whole gang back together!
