Libi and Daddy's Night Out

Heather is out tonight with her friends at a Grease sing-along at the Hollywood Bowl, so tonight it's just Libi and Daddy. Originally we talked about going to the movies, but Libi decided she wanted to go to the park instead. So we hopped into the car, smiles on our faces, and away we went!

We were not at the park more than a minute when Libi climbed onto the wobbly bridge, didn't use the handrail, and wobbled right off. She landed face down, got a bloody nose, and a mouth full of sand. With Libi dripping blood all over the both of us, we went to the restroom, cleaned up a bit, and then headed back to the car. It was a quick trip to the park. Here is Libs right before we climbed in for the drive home.

She's none too happy that I'm taking pictures, but I have to document the experience.

OK, so we went home, cleaned up, changed clothes, and then came back ready for some fun (finally!). Libi insisted that we come back. Gotta admire her persistence!

We blew bubbles . . .

Played on two different play sets . . .

and had a great time!

Here's my favorite part--she got back on that bridge! I reminded her that she needed to hold onto the handrail while she walked across. She went back and forth across that bridge many times!

She conquered that playground!

After a final slide, we came back home, ate dinner, and watched Mickey, Donald, and Goofy in The Three Musketeers. In spite of some injury early on, daddy and Libi had a great evening!

Last Day of School/ MNO

Today Libi went for her last day as a Monkey.

She had to pose by the sign so that I could compare with this:

the photo from her first day of school in August. She has grown and changed so much and we are so proud of the young lady she is becoming!

Libi passed out her gifts to her teachers and posed for photos with them. Too bad she never once looked at the camera!! Here is Miss Tasha,

Miss Caroline,

Miss Cindy,

Miss Carol, and

Miss Carole. Each of them have helped Libi grow and learn and we were blessed to know them!

I had to take a photo of Libi's monkey cubby-- cue Mommy crying here as well as during each of the photos above!

After school she came bursting out of the classroom to show us...

a book on trains! She tried very hard to get it home (I think she wanted to show it to Granpa) but since it belonged to the school she didn't get very far.

Libi picked some flowers for the Moms who were leaving.

One final game of Ring Around the Rosie..

and one final toss of the ball and we are done with Little People until the fall.

In the evening I got to hang out with some Mommy friends and go to the Bowl!

We got to see lots of former Grease cast members-- Frenchy, the secretary, Cha Cha, Eugene, and one of the directors (not sure who everyone else was!) Each person told us how to interact with the movie-- we got a bag full of goodies as we were seated. We had combs to use when Danny combed his hair, a scarf for the drag race, bubbles for Beauty School drop out, and lots more!

We had quite a picnic dinner and lots of wine!!!

Some of us dressed the part...

especially the event planner extraordinaire, Mary Jo!!!

I made a new friend named Cindy-- she is super sweet!

Before the movie there was a costume parade...

folks came in their best Grease creations to try to win prizes.

We chatted, ate, and took in all the sights!

The winning team who recreated the "Stranded at the Drive In" scene won a cruise to Mexico. Next year we will have to compete!!!

Dear sweet Claire was late but she made it before the movie started!!

It was a special version of the show...

not only did they have the traditional scenes...

but they added words and animations to make it more fun!!!

You can see what it was like to sing with 5,000 of your closest friends!

After the flick I had to pose once more with Claire-- I just love her and her costume was to die for!!!

Thanks girls for a fun night! We are already excited to go again next year. If you want to join us, let me know!

Back to school...

Libs still wasn't 100% but she really wanted to head back to school.

Since she was only coughing (and she had super chapped lips) we decided to send her.

She wasn't totally herself, the teachers even said that she wasn't very energetic today.

On the yard she seemed to have more life playing Duck, duck, goose, and

Ring around the Rosie with her school mates.

Before the bell rang we were off to the house for nap!

When she woke up it was time for making some teacher gifts. Libi has been working really hard on writing her name. She has the "L" and the "I" but the "B" is giving her trouble. She did try for her Thank you note for Miss Tasha-- it came out pretty well.

Finally feeling better!

We stayed home from Nana and Pop's house today since I was struck by the bug!

Libi was still a bit stuffy, but she had much more spunk today!

The princesses were totally cast aside today and it was all about the cars. They were lined up, rolled across everything, and had some pretty amazing adventures!

In the evening we were invited to a special family dinner at Damon's in Glendale.

We loaded into the car and drove down with Grammy.

The food was pretty darn good! My favorite thing by far was the pork dish covered in sweet potato fries---- AMAZING!!! Don't bother with the twice baked potato-- have the Parmesan crusted asparagus instead.

Tonight we were celebrating lots of things: the life of Grandpa Joe, Cris' retirement, and her birthday/anniversary one last time :)

Aunt Violet and Aunt Andrea came...

Grammy and Libi (sadly Grampy was tutoring)...

and Ron and I.

We were seated by the fish tank which pleased all of us. I was hoping to see the blow-fish blow, but it didn't while we were there.

On the way out we had to take a closer look...

and we found this guy. As Libi says, "Awww! He's so cute!"

God bless the camera timer and a newspaper machine so we could take a whole group photo.

Libi thought the monkeys on the wall were just for her! Next year we will be on the lookout for owl things since she will be a Hootin' Owl.

Our final stop of the night was to Millions of Milkshakes.

Andrea, Violet and Cris had never been there so it was fun to share it with them.

I think they liked it!!!!

Thanks for a fun night!

Yay for summer!!!!
